The most expensive bottle of water sold was for 774,000 pesos, $60,000 US (£39,357) at an auction organized by Planet Foundation A.C. at La Hacienda de Los Morales, Mexico City, Mexico on, 4 March 2010. The glass bottle is covered in 24-karat gold and is based on artwork by the late Italian artist Amedeo Clemente Modigliani.

The funds raised from the auction were donated to the foundation to battle global warming. The glass bottle is handmade and covered in Platinum, the artwork is based on the late Italian artist Amedeo Clemente Modigliani. This bottled water is a tribute to his work. The water itself is a blend of natural spring water from Fiji and France and also contains glacier water from Iceland.

The bottle called “Tributo Modigliani, Acqua di Cristallo” is made of Platinum, 6.000 high-quality diamonds. The estimated value of this bottle is 4.000.000 EUR. Limited edition, there is only 1 bottle worldwide. The Planet, Altamirano foundation, will be making a donation of 500.000 Euros to social causes.
